This section addresses problems and open questionsabout cinema halls in Milan, aiming at exploring theirhistory and their role in defining urban space andrestarting an interdisciplinary dialogue.As the cinematographic viewing experience is headingtowards forms that differ from those which justified aproliferation of cinemas in all urban neighborhoods, itis in fact necessary to rethink both the use of spaces ofcollective viewing and the potential of existing cinemahalls, especially considering their weakness emergedduring their Covid pandemic, that has neverthelessproved their value of urban landmarks.
