Tommaso Baris’s book is a biography of Giulio Andreotti, from his birth in 1919 to 1969. By analysing the first fifty years of the life of the Christian Democrat, Baris highlights the historical dimension of some key moments in the formation and the life choices of the politician. He clarifies his ‘political vocation’, the various forms of his electoral roots in post-Fascist Italy, and the specific characteristics of his public actions.
