One hundred years after his birth (1921-2021), Paulo Freire’s thought and work continue to testify the extraordinary political-pedagogical effectiveness of this author, one of the greatest educators of the twentieth century. The contribution analyzes Freire’s legacy and its relevance in terms of new epistemic and pedagogical challenges, starting from the reflections made during the International Congress (May 2021) organized by the Red Latinoamericana para el cambio social y el aprendizaje emancipatorio entitled “Sul fare educazione. L’attualità pedagogica di Paolo Freire a cento anni dalla nascita”, and on the occasion of the release of the monographic issue dedicated to this event by the Educational Reflective Practices Journal.
