The article studies the role of the parliamentary minorities and oppositions in the light of the transformations that are currently underway in the Italian form of government. Since the advent of the "Second Republic", the strengthening of the axis between Government and parliamentary majority has gradually eroded the margins for the participation of oppositions and minorities in the choices regarding the common good. The end of the bipolar coalition system and the return to a mainly proportional election law seem to have worsened the current issues. The article focuses on the possible remedies, which could be, alternatively, the reaffirmation of the centrality of Parliament, or the implementation of adequate instruments for the protection of parliamentary minorities and oppositions.
