De Felice Giuffrida, the servile wars and nineteenth-century Sicilian historiography The essay reconstructs some aspects that have not yet been investigated in the history of Giuseppe De Felice Giuffrida, namely his cultural curiosities and his literary production. In particular, a work on the servile wars in Sicily, published in Catania by the publisher Giannotta in 1911, during a break from his front-line commitment as mayor, is taken into consideration. The essay had for the author a purely political motivation, but he devoted himself to it with great passion, so much so that he went beyond the amateurish compilation, entering the field of research, analysis of sources and historiographical comparison.
