Comiso in the eighteenth century. Economy, power and society in the "little county" of Naselli The essay reconstructs the story of Comiso starting from the reconstruction following the earthquake of 1693. It is a particularly important story for understanding the formation of the urban identity of the "small county" of the Nasellis: the original interweaving of natural vocations of the territory (water, fertile land, stone quarries) and entrepreneurial skills in fact allowed it to carve out the role of mercantile and agro-industrial center for itself, a crucial junction for intense traffic and manufacturing activities that transformed it into a dynamic market town.
