The paper reflects on the innovations in the fields of fashion, art, and museum education introduced by Palma Bucarelli, Director of the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna in Rome from 1943 to 1975. Bucarelli distinguished herself through her ability to anticipate artistic and fashion trends by exhibiting contemporary works, opening the museum to different audiences and introducing the first educational department in an Italian museum. She actively promoted the educational role of museums in Italy, thanks also to the collaboration with universities. Despite the controversies generated by her exhibition choices, Bucarelli persevered in promoting modern and contemporary art and its accessibility. She emphasized the importance of fashion as an integral part of artistic culture, also expressing social transformations of her time through her clothing. Challenging the stereotypes of the time, Bucarelli, stends as a pioneering figure in the field of museology and in the promotion of 20th-century contemporary art and fashion.
