This paper focuses on the conditions of “minority” and inequality to which “sexually divergent” culture has been exposed from the agreed-upon canon for millennia. The analysis starts from a pedagogical premise about the social construction of “diversity” and continues by delving into some aspects of LGBTQ+ culture through a bunch of its greatest icons. With different ages (65, 37 and 30) and artistic careers spread over the past 40 years, they can be considered each other’s heirs. The aim is to demonstrate how the alternative languages of pop music can be transformed into inclusive tools if the characters who play it do it well and do not reduce its meaning just to the commercial scope.
