This contribution offers a critical reading of the Sacco Valley through a morethanhuman perspective, tracing both material and immaterial transformations of the territory along two main axes: on the one hand, the genealogies of environmental and social damage—inscribed in the landscape through processes of forced industrialization, decommissioning, and widespread contamination; on the other, the forms of resistance and territorial strongholds that emerge in response to past and present extractive logics. Through listening to these experiences and to the damage recognition capacity developed by local communities, this contribution proposes a reading of the Valley as a living and conflictual palimpsest, where toxic memories coexist with transformative and reparative possibilites. This leads to the urgency of imagining a nontechnocratic and notonlyhuman project, capable of recognizing the interdependence among species, environments, and life forms, and of articulating new practices of care, justice, and coexistence.

Keywords: inbetween Italy; infrastructures, morethanhuman.
