The article highlights the importance of broadening systemic therapists’ perspective to include a deeper contextualization of family systems within the macrosystem, taking into account the major socioeconomic and technological transformations of recent decades. It presents a review of key contributions that help map the impact of the macrosystem on family systems and the resulting implications for mental health. Alongside the call to deepen research and clinical practice that incorporate the macrosystem, the article offers some suggestions for assessment and clinical intervention.
