This article analyzes Cold War dynamics in Italy through the case of San Marino, where a socialcommunist government, democratically elected in 1945, was overthrown in 1957 following economic, political, and diplomatic conflicts. Based on archival research conducted in the United States, Italy, and San Marino, the study contextualizes U.S. intervention within the framework of anticommunist containment strategies and psychological warfare as applied in Italy.
