Il presente contributo sviluppa una riflessione sul ruolo che scelte di acquisto volte a premiare imprese socialmente responsabili possono avere nel promuovere il benessere dei lavoratori. Considerando le nozioni di responsabilità sociale d’impresa, consumo critico, attivismo dei consumatori e voto col portafoglio si analizzano innanzitutto i principali canali e concetti che sembrano connettere scelte di acquisto e comportamenti responsabili delle imprese. Discutendo alcuni risultati empirici e sperimentali si riflette quindi sull’effetto che la disponibilità a pagare un premio per prodotti socialmente e ambientalmente sostenibili sembra avere nell’influenzare comportamenti responsabili delle imprese. Particolare attenzione è dedicata a un contributo focalizzato sul ruolo che le scelte di consumo responsabile possono avere nel favorire la decisione delle imprese di pagare salari più alti ai loro lavoratori.
