This article aims to reconstruct the chief aspects of Middle Platonic metaphysics, with particular reference to the positions of Plutarch, Atticus, Alcinous and Numenius. The Author concentrates on ontology (being-becoming distinction and theory of principles) and theology (hierarchy of divine beings: first God and second God). It is shown that Middle Platonic speculation on metaphysics rests to a great extent on the exegesis of Plato’s Timaeus.
