Information transparency is a particularly important element in the context of public health. In fact, there are important information asymmetries between health care consumers and providers which, in the Italian context, have prompted the legislator to intervene in order to guarantee a certain level of information transparency of hospital facilities. Despite this, public health institutions provide different levels of information.This study examines the level of information transparency of Italian hospital facilities and analyses the impact of determinants related to the organizational and governance structures. The results demonstrate a positive effect of the size and gender of the director general and a negative impact of complexity on the level of information transparency of hospital facilities.
