Incentives to European Enterprises. Main Trends in the 1990s - This paper develops and evaluates the distribution of European and National productive sector support between 1988 and 1998. The empirical evidence provided by the Author supports the hypothesis that both National and European Industrial Aids Policies implemented in the last decade are unlikely to contribute to regional and national convergence. In addition, the empirical analysis shows that European Incentives are not additional to national ones as claimed in several official reports. This papers concludes by pointing out that the future inclusion of Eastern European Countries may cause a further spatial dispersion of resources for productive sector support and a reduction of their efficacy in promoting convergence.
