The Social Doctrine ofthe Catholic Church and Economie Theory with a View to New Agrarian Reform - This paper illustrates the views taken in the social teaching of the Catholic Church and economie theory on the subject ofagrarian reform, and evidences the many points of contact between the two perspectives. The subject has recently been raised by the Jubilee tradition, which recognizes re-distributive land policies as an important instrument for equity and peace. The paper compares the social teaching ofthe Catholic Church and economie theory with particular attention to their positions on private property and household enterprises, i.e. the institutions most closely involved in agrarian reforms. The study also describes how the social teachings of the Catholic Church and the recommendations of economie theory are implemented in some recent cases ofagrarian reform.
