A new season of development is involving ecomuseums, changing their role and expressing their significant potential of innovation in/for urban and regional regeneration. Following the XXIV icom Conference and the Scientific Conference ‘Museums and cultural landscapes. The ecomuseums and community museums perspectives’, held in Milan in July 2016, the contribution reports on this renewal process, highlighting the evolution of participatory models, the growth of skills and professionalism involved, the spreading out in terms of space and disciplines, and even of new methods and strategies. The network model and the interdisciplinary and transnational cooperation prospect further enrichment, both to transfer good practices and to increase effectiveness and efficiency in change management and in built environment enhancement
