Building on the biographical histories of these men, the aim of this article is to understand whether it is correct to assume that the Spanish conflict acted as a matrix with respect to the spread of irregular warfare practices first in the years of the Second World War and then in those of the first Cold War, gener¬ating global ramifications of which the veterans of Spain would be the driving force.
