In our time marked by individual and collective vulnerability, the artistic production of people with disabilities offers a look into the structures of imagination, the links with archetypes, the concept of inspiration, and existential experience as a generative filter of new and unusual cosmogonies. The work of artists who embody neurodivergence, diversity, and disability, offers a new and original point of view on art, allows new interpretations, and produces signs, symbols, and styles to question through the epistemological lens of special education. Starting from the artworks of the patients housed in the nineteenth century asylums, from diagnostic purposes to an aesthetic categorization, the valorization of the artist as an individual and as a category is achieved. This work aims to contribute to the search for new interpretative canons in different frameworks, crossing the tradition with different hermeneutics and paving the way for new epistemologies and views, where inclusion is a construct permeating cultural products beyond labels and barriers.
