This review essay examines the volume edited by Filippo Focardi and Santo Peli on the Italian Resistance, highlighting its innovative historiographical framework. By restoring centrality to armed resistance and foregrounding its human dimension, the book challenges reductive narratives and reinterprets the Resistance as a complex, plural, and intrinsically divisive historical phenomenon.
