Collaborative spaces are capturing growing interest of scholars from different disciplines, but their studies tend to be mainly focused on the analysis of the organization and cooperative mechanisms within these spaces rather than on the territorial embeddedness of these collabora-tive spaces. This paper aims at investigating how collaborative spaces can be influenced by their social and economic context. In order to achieve this, it presents the results of exploratory research conducted in 2020 on collaborative spaces in the Veneto region. The research shows a strong coherence between the emerging phenomenon of collaborative spaces and the Veneto region’s socio-economic heritage, which is based on a system of small, diffuse and socially-rooted enterprises.
