In this partially autobiographical contribution, the author shows how his reception and articulation of the scientific and professional work and legacy of Harry Stack Sullivan (1892-1949) and Stephen A. Mitchell (1946-2000) was positively influenced by the relationship he established with Johannes Cremerius (1918-2002) and Gaetano Benedetti in the context of his analytic training at the S.P.P. (1988-1993) and of his participation (during and after his training) in the scientific life of the A.S.P.
