The article, first of all, analyses the deep change caused by the transition from a paradigm of care to one of prevention and then studies the problems resulting from this transformation. The new conceptual model of schizophrenia as neurodevelopmental disorder is described as well as the subsequent research on identifying at-risk mental states referencing SPI-CY. After some clinical vignettes showing the difficulty of applying the traditional diagnostic categories to the teenagers’ mind, an evaluation and intervention model is proposed which focuses on the evolutive dimension and on the new research related to affection regulation.
