No. The fact that an Open Access publication is released free of charge does not mean it is in the public domain. Italian and international laws recognize and protect Open Access authorship and intellectual property.

According to the agreement signed with the author, FrancoAngeli publishes under one of the two licenses listed here:

Attribution - Noncommercial - No Derivative Works 4.0 International CC BY-NC-ND 4.0. This license lets you download the Work and share it with others while giving appropriate credit to the author; but does not allow any modifications or reuse for commercial purposes.

Attribution-No Derivative Works 4.0 International CC BY-ND 4.0. This license allows distribution, commercial or otherwise, of the Work, but it must be transmitted whole and inviolate, giving credit to the author.

No because these are process that do not guarantee credit to the authoruse don't grant credit to the author.

Our Open Access ebook are available in the following format:

- PDF and/or EPUB which can be read on all devices (PC, tablet, smartphone, eReader) that support this format.

You can find indications of the available format (PDF, EPUB, or both) on the pages of the Open Access (digital and/or print version) and on FrancoAngeli website.

It is the standard format for digital publications, whose specifications are released and updated by the International Digital Publication Forum (IDPF). Its main feature is to allow a flow distribution of the text, which therefore adapts to the screen on which it is read, and to personalize the reading experience as much as possible. With an ebook in EPUB version you can also choose the size and type of font, the line spacing and alignment of the text, the background color of the screen.

All FrancoAngeli Open Access ebook (PDF and EPUB format) can be downloaded and moved on a Kindle device with the Send to Kindle option. Online reading is not currently supported on Kindle devices. Please read the manufacturer manual for more information. 

All e-readers that support PDF or ePub Format can visualize our Open Access ebooks. No additional component is required.

As with all books, in the case of Open Access ebook the author has the right to have his or her intellectual work protected (in particular, not to be modified, reused or copied). Our ebook are designed to be memorized (with no expiration limit) or viewed directly online on the publisher’s website.

The user, at the time of downloading the Open Access ebook, agrees to all the conditions provided. The User is granted a licence to use the Work as specified by the relevant Creative Commons type to which the publication is bound.

You can read Open Access ebooks online or you can download them on your device.  After the download is not necessary an online connection for reading.

Making our ebooks accessible to blind and visually impaired people and thus satisfying their learning and updating needs is a goal that has been close to our hearts since long time.  

Yes, if it is an Gold Open Access, but within the limits defined by the Creative Commons license of the publication, which remains valid for the Work, which remains valid for the Work in both its digital and print versions. The printed version of an Open Access ebook cannot therefore be used for direct or indirect commercial purposes and its ownership must always be indicated.

The Green Open Access ebook cannot be printed instead.
