Since the end of the Second World War up to the 1970s, in Italy occurred a particular season for architecture in which the political and social ferments, the philosophical speculation largely related to those ferments and the instances of modernization played a strong role in the architectural and urban planning debate. Thus, analyzing these theoretical factors external to the discipline is essential to understand the innovative drive that Pietro Derossi, Vittorio Gregotti, Adolfo Natalini, Franco Purini, Marco Romano and Bernardo Secchi gave to the Italian architectural design and urban planning.
