The work with parents has always characterized the institutions that deal with psycho-logical treatment of children. Family therapy has evolved a lot and, differently from the therapy with groups of parents, it has relied on a strong theoretical basis. The groups of parents, instead, work above all as "groups of words" that support the Ego function. In this article, I address questions on the setting and the therapeutic process that is involved in this kind of group through the discussion of a clinical vignette.

Keywords: Parental function, groups of words, therapeutical alliance.
