In this article, the author investigate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting changes in the clinical setting. The shared common reality, with its dangerous burden of death, disrupts both the analyst’s and patient’s worlds, uniting them in an experience of danger and alarm due to the contagion. Reflecting on the experience related to the danger of contagion becomes a valuable opportunity to anchor that expeirence in the clinical situation. A clinical vignette completes the article, allowing the author to delve deeper into the therapeutic process, with particular attention to the setting in patients with complex traumas, where individual trauma resonates and is amplified by collective trauma.
