"Storie di Gap. Terrorismo urbano e Resistenza" (Einaudi, 2014) by Santo Peli is oneof the most original and ground-breaking books published for the 70th anniversary of the Resistance. The volume highlights the specificity of the forms of militancy carried out during the Resistance, which were characterized by extreme rules of behavior and moral dilemmas. Because of the particular fighting context and the basic objectives that distinguished it, the Resistance imposed on its protagonists a direct relationship with the issue of violence, both carried out and endured. In order to give a sense of the richness of the various interpretations and perspectives offered by the book, we have asked three authors of different generations and disciplines, to write a review: Luca Baldissara, a historian of the Second World War and the Resistance; Fabio Dei, a cultural anthropologist who specializes in studies about violence; Mariachiara Conti, a doctoral student of the University of Cassino and Lazio meridionale, who is currently working on a research project about the Gruppi d'Azione Patriottica.
Keywords: Gruppi d'Azione Patriottica, violence, moral dilemmas, Resistance
