The relationship between trade union and migrant workers is a key issue in the current national political and public debate. In fact, the trade unions had a key role and a direct impact on the processes of social integration and cohesion. Nevertheless, some aspects of this relationship are still relatively unexplored in the Italian sociological panorama. Among these, the issue of the relation between trade union and racism and the one of the trade unions fight’s against racial discriminations. This paper aims to investigate the still partially unexplored link between Italian trade unions and racial, within the framework of the economic crisis.By making comparison between the narratives of three types of respondents (stakeholders, trade unionists and unionized migrant workers) it will be deepened the effectiveness of the efforts of the Italian trade unions to combat discriminations since 2008 - year in which conventionally it is dated the economic crisis - to assess the extent to which migrants are actually represented in the structures of the trade unions, to analyze what are the main barriers that prevent migrant workers access to the support of the unions and their involvement.
