The annual Report on Italy’s social situation by CENSIS Foundation once again interprets and analyses the most significant aspects of Italy’s socio-economic trends. The General Considerations, introducing this year’s Report, confirm the fragility of our socio-cultural structure and the multiplication of small or big fears. In the same breath, the original features of our system of coexistence help us to face the current crisis, meanwhile we catch a glimpse of the signs of a silently starting second metamorphosis.

L’appuntamento di riflessione del Censis “Un mese di sociale/2008” approfondisce i quattro passaggi socioeconomici fondamentali di un anno in cui si sono addensate le aspettative di discontinuità rispetto al passato: la parabola del localismo italiano dal tradizionale primato del territorio alla deriva verso il corporativismo localistico; la crisi del sociale; la vitalità continuata dei sottoinsiemi economici, sociali, culturali; l’incrinatura della fiducia cieca nel primato assoluto del mercato e un nuovo bisogno di Stato.

L’appuntamento estivo “Un Mese di Sociale/2007” del Censis si focalizza su: riorganizzazione del sistema del credito e della finanza attraverso le recenti fusioni e incorporazioni; incapacità della politica di influire sui soggetti dell’economia, e conseguente ripiegamento sul controllo delle risorse pubbliche; persistenza di un numero ristretto di operatori che gestisce il potere sul versante dell’acquisto e della distribuzione delle risorse geofisiche, ecc.

The fortieth edition of the Annual Report on the Italy’s social situation focuses on providing a detailed analysis of instances of economic recovery, on interpreting the socio-political dynamics that have been prevalent over recent months and on pinpointing the real processes of growth within Italian society. The report includes analyses of the following sectors: training, employment, welfare, health, local areas, networks, private businesses, security, citizenship, innovation, media and institutional communication.
