This essay states that the Faculty of Medicine in the 800s is very competitive, thanks to the comparison with the European scientific world. At the Vittorio Emanuele Hospital, the professor Gesualdo Clementi, a famous surgeon, who would have revolutioned surgical techniques, introducing the Lister method.
