The study of two wills and the related inventories drawn up at Troina and Randazzo allow us to know and understand some historical-economic events in the monastery of San Nicolò l’Arena in Catania, above all, they allow us to grasp different aspects of the daily life of people who have intervened in various ways title to the legal transaction: names, social background, weddings or details of material culture such as building systems, urban structures or territorial landscape, or rather houses, streets, squares, churches, monasteries, and much more, today totally disappeared, yet resurrected from today’s toponymy. In particular, the examined documentation highlights the female figure in the reality of two "cities" of central-eastern Sicily. Rosa and Ysolda, both with an important role within their own family: one as the head of the house as a widow, the other with the ability to want to impose herself beyond her earthly existence.
