The authors reflect about the role of indicators as a support for the actions of local authorities in the development of sustainability-oriented initiatives, starting from a study on the territorialisation process of the Lombardy SRSvS indicators at the municipal scale. Through a process of participant observation of the policy com-munity involved, they emerge the limitations encountered by the municipal level in working with indicators and some potential roles.
