In order to guarantee the required work performance, it is necessary for those who carry out a coordination task to apply managerial practices based on scientific evidence, rather than being guided solely by experience and common sense. This article presents the results of a research carried out on a sample of coordinators in the healthcare services (N = 166), aimed to investigate the research-beliefs gap about leadership, work motivation; training and development, performance appraisal, and compensation and benefits. The article presents critical issues, discusses possible causes, and suggests implications for coordinators, trainers, staff managers, and training managers.
