The introduction of television in Spanish homes did not follow the progressive course it was supposed to follow, and this somehow related to the historical evolu-tion of Francoism itself. At the end of the fifties takes place the turning point in which the technological development of television is set in motion and its ideological possibilities are potentiated, betting on a medium of cultural entertainment. This article explains that political process and analyses how the presence of television in the press helps to rebuild the evolution and meaning of the appearance of television for Spanish history.
