This paper aims: 1) to examine the main ethical issues concerning the treatment and the care of severely disabled people, regarding also economic, structural and programmatic difficulties they meet; 2) to discuss from the ethical side, on the basis of these issues, the so-called Ashley Treatment as a relevant case concerning the values at stake: 3) to propose future scenarios for the treatment of the disabled persons, taking also into account the greater diffusion of the PGD and the development of gene therapy; 4) to highlight the assumptions and the potential anthropological consequences of these issues, pointing out the contribution given by Christian anthropology.
