One of the re-launching policies for public owned housing is the "Programma di recupero e razionalizzazione degli immobili e degli alloggi di edilizia residenziale pubblica" (DL. 47/2014) The objective of this analysis is to provide a first assessment of this program, correlating the interventions financed by the public owned housing recovery program with the data on rental housing hardship (Bank of Italy).The analysis aims at relaunch the debate on the need for public housing policies, highlighting the historical path that led to their weakening before the recent revival.
