The aim of this contribution is to delineate the presence of pottery in noble residences between Sicily and Spain on the basis of unpublished contents of seventeenth-century inventories of a Sicilian family like the Moncadas, protagonists in the highest social and power contexts of the Catholic monarchy. In comparison to the presence of pottery in other Iberian and Sicilian inventories and to their provenance from manifactures in the Italian peninsula, overseas lands of New Spain and Far East. Also being attentive to the meaning and value of these furnishings and objects of use in the context of the debate on luxury in the Siglo de oro and to the pre-eminence among domestic goods of silverwares.
