This contribution addresses the myth of Demeter, from its origin to its roots in Gela where it was imported by an ancestor of the Dinomenids, the family that governed the Sicilian city until the first mid5th century BC Taking advantage of the influence of the Demetrician cult on the communities of the island, from always linked to an earth deity, the Dinomenids spread this religion in the centers they conquered, starting from Akragas, Geloa sub colony. In fact, there are many cities in Sicily that have returned traces of sanctuaries and offerings dedicated to Demeter and Kore and the documentation will be examined among them archaeological findings found in Gela and in the other cities that fell within his sphere of political and political influence economic such as Camarina, Syracuse, Eloro and Catania, where significant remains and materials have been found referable to the local sanctuary where the two goddesses, protectors of the earth and fertility, were venerated.
